Ghyll Royd School and Pre-School has announced a new partnership with Giggleswick School, bringing together two independent Yorkshire schools.
Ghyll Royd, based in Burley-in-Wharfedale near Ilkley, will retain its own identity and community, according to the announcement supplied by the schools.
The partnership takes effect immediately. The schools say they will share expertise and resources, with plans for closer collaboration in sport, outdoor education, science and technology, the creative arts and wellbeing.
Staff will have opportunities to work together, while Ghyll Royd pupils will be able to access additional facilities and specialist teaching through the relationship.
The schools also intend to develop a closer pathway for pupils who choose Giggleswick for their senior education. Families will remain free to choose other senior schools.
Hadley Nicholson, headmaster of Ghyll Royd, said the relationship would build on the school’s existing provision while protecting its character.
Sam Hart, headmaster of Giggleswick, said the schools shared an outlook on education and that closer working could create more opportunities for their communities.
Ghyll Royd educates children aged two to eleven. Giggleswick, near Settle in North Yorkshire, offers day and boarding education and includes a prep school, senior school and sixth form.
The supplied announcement describes a partnership, with both schools continuing to serve their respective communities.
